Entry # 1 What Even is A Blog

What is up internet friends! Jason here once again, except, instead of rambling about myself and my interest, this time i'll be rambling about opinion on blogs... how humble of me.

Opinion's are like...

If i'm being completely honest with you, which I always will be (scouts honor), up until recently I thought blogs were a dying if not dead form of online dialogue. I have come to learn that, that was very wrong. I actually read some interesting blogs in research for what constitutes a blog, and have come to realize that a blog is truly what the creator makes of it.With that being said i'll have to be honest in saying that I am a fan of them. There is something fascinating about the personality that each author choses to apply to their blog. The few blogs that I read differed mostly in tone and use of language. Which predominantly depended on the material being discussed in the blog. If it was a blog about educating fellow teachers, then the tone of voice would be more professional than casual. On the other hand, a blog about not buying clothes for a year to see the results, would have a more casual friendly tone.

Apples to Oranges

In Gary Vees blog, Some Perspective on Changing your "Dwell Time", his personality is very prevalent throughout. From his casual usage of curse words, to his linking of an instagram video where he talks about dwelling on your past. On the other Terry Heick carries themselves a lot more professionally in their blog, What Should Students Learn? What Might They Learn in The Future, this difference could be due to the difference in the nature of their topics but also on the audience. While Gary Vee is writing to his everyday individual who seeks inspiration form a friendly face, Terry Heick is writing to teachers in a manner that is informative as to teaching in more efficient ways. The first blog here is the one of the two that I liked the most. It was straight to the point and managed to garner my attention for the entirety of the article up until the instagram video. The second blog, while i'm sure is rich in information, was a little boring to the every day person. I don't plan on teaching any time in the future so the article was informative but lacks interest from your every day person.

Whatever you like

Upon my study of all things blogs I found that while some had a more professional or scholarly tone, the majority of them seemed to carry a very casual and friendly tone. The formatting of the two is also very different. While an article like Terry Heick's streamlines information so the reader can digest it best, less professional blogs have a more easy flowing style that can bounce from topic to topic because they serve more for entertainment than information. The nature of more free flowing blogs can be seen in Morgan Schemel's, I Didn’t Buy Any New Clothing For a Year — And It Completely Changed My Wardrobe, this blog jumps form idea to idea and thought to thought without disrupting the readers attention. On the other hand if Heick were to try this with their informational blog they would lose the readers attention because their information needs to be delivered chronologically.

Well amigos, it was fun chatting it up with you once again, I wish you an amazing rest of your day.

signing off once again
